Book Review: A Rose For Her Grave

From the publisher: A Rose for Her Grave tells the story of Randy Roth from the razor-sharp perspective of Ann Rule. Rule attended the Roth trial and includes gripping accounts and details from her personal files on the case. A Rose for Her Grave delves into the heinous crimes of the monster Randy Roth; a man who seduced and manipulated vulnerable women into marrying him and opening up a large life insurance policy…all for him to collect when they conveniently met their untimely end. Rule exposes the heartbreaking facts of the investigation into his crimes, his last three wives and the tortured children left behind.

Cynthia Baumgartner

Ann Rule takes on the horrific crimes of money-obsessed Randy Roth, who was convicted of drowning his fourth wife for the insurance money in 1991, 10 years after the 1981 “accidental” death of his second wife, Janis Miranda.

Randy Roth was a master manipulator, a liar, and abuser, not to mention frequently committing insurance fraud. It’s a true shame he was allowed to hurt as many people as he did before finally being put behind bars. Rule, once again, proves why she was the true crime queen by weaving a remarkable story of greed and murder.

I had trouble putting this one down and definitely recommend to any true crime fan. You can also read more about Randy Roth in Carlton Smith’s book, Fatal Charm: The Shocking True Story of Serial Wife Killer Randy Roth.
